Candlebark Performance Horses, in Arthurs Creek Victoria, has focused on breeding horses with exceptional temperaments and ability to perform in eventing, jumping or dressage for more than 20 years. CPH uses only carefully selected mares and sires with the best bloodlines from Australia and Europe.
Candlebark Performance Horses began with the exceptional eventing mare ‘Holiday’ (Flaneur (imp) x Miss Metoka XX). Holiday was as honest as a day is long and in her long eventing career up to the top level only once incurred a XC fault – when the rider fell off attempting a corner no one else even considered!! Holiday had 7 foals with her bloodlines carried on through her son Darby Day (by Stanislavsky) and granddaughter Summersday, both now deceased, and now Ruby Thursday.
Julia, the owner of Candlebark Performance Horses, rode Kibah Tic Toc in 1988 taking him from intermediate to advanced (4*) before he was sent overseas for Matt Ryan to ride, and winning Olympic gold in 1992. Julia took three horses to the UK in 1990 and competed for 5 years on these and other horses at top level events in the UK and Europe.
